Serve Under 21 and the Party’s Over.

Before you host tonight’s party, please consider this:

No one under the age of 21 can possess or consume alcohol.

Selling or otherwise furnishing alcohol to someone under 21 is against the law. If you serve alcohol to a minor or allow someone underage to consume alcohol on property you own, lease, or otherwise control, you may face criminal charges.

TN code 57-3-412:

Any person who purchases an alcoholic beverage for or at the request of a person under twenty-one (21) years of age commits a misdemeanor and, upon conviction for such person's first such offense, shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500), plus all penalties imposed by § 39-15-404. Upon a person's second or subsequent conviction for such offense, such person shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), plus all penalties imposed by § 39-15-404.

It is unlawful for any person who is younger than twenty-one (21) years of age to purchase or attempt to purchase any alcoholic beverage.

A violation of this subdivision (a)(5) is a Class A misdemeanor.

Make it easier on yourself and others and do the responsible thing because if you serve under 21, the party’s over, and the headaches that will accompany it are sure to outlast the typical hangover…now that’s a BUZZKILL!
